Hello! Thank you for visiting Grace Goes on About . . .
I’m Grace.
My parents gifted me my first journal for my 7th birthday when they noticed, as my mom wrote in her journal at the time, “[Grace] likes to write notes.”
Until recently, I had assumed my parents gifted me the journal because they wanted to encourage me to write so when I came across my mom’s journal, which she gave me permission to read, I was stunned to discover that she had captured the inspiration for the gift. It was one of the shortest entries in the journal but it gave me exactly what I needed by confirming what I had begun to realize just a few years before; that I’m a writer.
I’m not a writer because my parents wanted me to be. I’m a writer because it is what I’m meant to be in this life. I am beyond grateful to now know that my parents were present enough to see who I am and provide me with a tool to express it, which is what this blog is for me now; a tool for expression.
I will always be a life long journaler but once I became an adult and the internet became more widely available, my journaling transitioned from a letter strictly for myself to a letter to my friends and family. The more I experience life, the more I find myself sharing personal essays as a way to encourage others, to provide a potentially different perspective and, most importantly, to help others feel seen. It is my intent and hope that you feel a little less alone when you read my words, dear reader. These stories are for you.
I started my first novel about two years ago, trying my hand at fiction. I believe I am writing for a mid-grade audience since my protagonist and her brother are inspired by my young niece and nephew. There’s time travel and adventure but I’m also attempting to address generational trauma.
Since starting the novel, we have moved to a new state and gotten married so I had to put it on hold for quite some time but I hope to be able to share it with you soon.
In addition to writing, you will find me reading, walking in nature, taking photos, kayaking, doing tarot card readings for friends and family, watching movies and spending time with my family, husband, my cat-sized Poodle, Leeloo (yes, her name is in reference to the movie “The Fifth Element”), and my two cats.
If my words speak to you and you feel moved to say thank you, I would be honored if you reach out, comment and/or buy me a coffee. Your support is felt deeply and always received with gratitude.
