Virginia Gorham loved perfectly and completely. She gave more than she ever asked for in return. To know her was to feel seen, supported, and believed in.
Our family is saddened to share the passing of Virginia Lee Gorham, longtime resident of Lower Lake, CA., on March 31, 2026.
Born December 31, 1952 in Oakland, CA to Georgina (neé Copsey) and Charles Wood, Virginia was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt, a grandmother, and a friend to many. A believer in true love, she spotted her future husband, Guy (Clark), when she was in the third grade, during a visit to see her grandmother, Gertrude Copsey, in Lower Lake, and quietly made up her mind that she would marry him one day. More than 52 years of marriage later, it’s safe to say that her heart led her well.
Virginia is loved and survived by her beloved husband, Guy (Clark), and their six children: Silas (Lucy Hernandez), Ben (Brittany), Grace (Matthew) Skok, Anna (Daniel Clark), Lois (Antonio Lopez), and David (Joni). She was the proud and adoring grandmother of Brayden, Blayke, and Greyson, as well as her honorary granddaughter, Ellie Langley. She is also survived by her niece, Christine Wood.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Christopher Wood, her nephew Allen Wood, and her sister-in-law, Sharon Robin-Monahan.
Known for her favorite hobby of quilting, Virginia cherished finding inspiration for new patterns and designs and frequently made quilts as gifts for people in her orbit and for special occasions. Every quilt was a love letter. That was Virginia.
Creative in many ways, Virginia’s longest held occupation was as a computer-aided architectural draftsperson.
She also had a fondness for gardening, cats and dogs and found joy in tending to plants and animals alike. For many years, she was the “Flower Lady” for Lower Lake Methodist Church, bringing flowers grown at home to the church on Saturday evenings so they would be on display for Sunday service.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Virginia’s Oncologist, Dr. Ethan Schram, and to all of the medical staff at the St. Helena Hospital Foundation Cancer Center who cared for her with such dedication and compassion, and for the comfort and support provided to her and her family.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes support with final expenses at https://gofund.me/9057948fb
